Balalayam and Kumbhabhishekem are important temple consecration rituals traditionally performed to renew and sanctify a temple.
During Balalayam, the divine presence is ritually invoked and temporarily transferred while restoration or renovation work takes place. Once the work is complete, Kumbhabhishekem is performed, involving sacred water from consecrated pots being ceremonially poured over the temple's vimana and kalashams.
